Filthy Cupholders?

The Secret Weapon for Clean Cup Holders

For some reason the cup holders of any vehicle tend to act as a black hole, sucking everything into them until they become a mess of random coins covered with dried coffee/soda residue and a couple receipts and French fry bits for topping.

I was riding in the car of a friend who is a self-described clean freak. You’ll never be attacked by a wayward dust bunny in her home. She even routinely cleans the stuff she cleans with.

But her car was another story.

Elvis might be hiding in her cup holders.

Cleaning cup holders can be a challenge because it’s tough to get the edges “un-gunked.”

Here’s an easy, inexpensive tip to help you save the time and frustration that comes with trying to keep these clutter-catchers clean: put silicone cupcake liners in your cup holders. They perfectly fit most cup holders, and when they start looking bad, you just pop them out, wash, rinse and repeat.

Voila. No more scrubbing of the cup holders.

If you don’t feel like making a trip to the kitchen gadget store, the fine folks at Amazon have you covered. You can get a dozen cup holders for about $15. You want to make sure to get the large cupcake liners. The standard cupcake liners are too small for the job.

And if you’re looking for something to do with those leftover cupcake liners, I should mention that cupcakes are always welcome at Honda Oakland.
